Biography

Walter Laity graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Washington in 1962, an MS from OSU in 1969, and a PhD from OSU in 1977. He is recognized as a superb manager at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. He has had major responsibilities in environmental management, materials, and chemical sciences. He currently serves as manager of the $168 million Tritium Target Qualification Project. Groups and centers under his management have developed technologies that have received 14 "R & D 100" awards. He is a charter member of the ME department's industry advisory board and is a leader in accreditation activities through ASME and ABET.
